always try to diversify your portfolio. as the saying goes, "never keep your eggs in the same basket". you can start off with multicap & largecap funds. i recommend starting SIPs in small amounts then as tym goes u cn increase the amount gradually. since you are aiming at retirement & presuming it is a long term goal you can start SIPs in Multicap funds. in lump sum you can definitely go for Multicap, Large & Midcap funds. I am guessing you might be having 50L-1 Cr in retirement fund. First for 15 lakhs you should buy pradhan mantri vaya vandana yojana. her you get 8% IRR annuity. Also you can invest in liquid funds for 7-8% returns. Also 15 Lakh you should invest in Senior citizen FD.  Read More...
