My parents (61 & 63 y old) don't have any health insurance of their own till this time. I was thinking of getting a health insurance for them but seems like its not easy or affordable to get health insurance at this age with pre-existing diseases (diabetes and hypertension mainly). So, I am just wondering is spending close to 30-35 k for their health insurance would be really helpful since in 2 years my father age will cross 65 y mark and quotes for that is almost 40-50% more.
One option that is coming to my mind is open a separate FD and start adding premium amount in that. In case of need, I can use my employer insurance(my current employer insurance covered my parents) and FD money. But whats worrying me is what if my current employer changed their policy or I changed my company.
Any advices/suggestions on alternatives/insurance companies?
PS: Lesson learned, please opt in for the health insurance before its too late, preferably before 45y.
